Easy Crochet
Crochet is a wonderful hobby that has been gaining more and more followers in recent years. It helps you to slow down, clear your mind and, at the same time, create original pieces with your own hands. If you're just starting out with crochet, there's no need to worry – every experienced crocheter was a beginner once.
To get started, all you'll need is a crochet hook, a ball of yarn and a desire to learn something new. It's best to choose a lighter-coloured, medium-weight acrylic or cotton yarn, where the individual stitches are clearly visible. This will make it easier for you to learn basic techniques such as the chain stitch, single crochet and slip stitch.
Don't expect your first creation to be perfect. Mistakes are a normal part of learning, and you'll get better with every project.
To start with, we'll make a simple and pretty little flower, which we'll crochet using double crochet stitch worked into a magic ring, treble crochet stitch, chain stitches and a slip stitch.
You can make the flower in any colours you like. I've chosen beige and green acrylic yarn. To crochet it, we'll also need a size 3 crochet hook and a pair of scissors.
Take the cream-coloured yarn and start by making a magic ring, into which you'll crochet 12 double crochets.
Row 1: 12 double crochets (DC) into the magic ring (cream-coloured yarn)
Row 2: Change to green, make a slip stitch, 3 chain stitches, then work 4 double crochets (with 2 chains each) into the same stitch; followed by 3 chain stitches, a slip stitch into the next stitch, another 3 chain stitches, and 4 double crochets (with 2 chains each) into the next stitch.
Instructions: 4 treble crochets into the same stitch, 3 chain stitches, a slip stitch into the next stitch, 3 chain stitches = repeat until the end of the row, resulting in 6 petals.
