The Waffle stitch
This beautiful pattern is crocheted using double crochet and raised double crochet stitches. For this example, I have chosen 'Vlna Hep – Tulip Color' acrylic yarn and a size 5 crochet hook.
- First, we'll crochet a chain stitch. The number of stitches depends on what you're planning to crochet. It's important that the number is divisible by three, plus three extra stitches.
- Row 1: In this row, we´´ ll double crochets (Dc), working the first Dc into the third stitch from the hook. At the end of the row, we make 3 chain stitches (CH) and turn.
- Row 2: In this row, we will alternate front post double crochet and double crochet stitch. First, work a front post double crochet, then into the next two stitches: 2 Dc, 1 front post double crochet, 2 Dc; continue alternating in this pattern until the end of the row. Work 1 DC into the last stitch of the row, then 3 CH, and turn.
- Row 3: (1 double crochet, 2 relief double crochets) = alternate until the end of the row. At the end of the row, work 1 double crochet into the last stitch, 3 chain stitches, then turn.
- Row 4: (1 front post double crochet, 2 double crochet) = alternate until the end of the row. Finish the row again with 1 double crochet and 3 chain stitches.
Alternate between Row 3 and Row 4 until the desired length is reached.
